Welcome to SGT Hockey

SGT Hockey was founded by a Military Veteran with a passion for discipline, structure, and player development. Our goal is to give Columbus athletes a space that’s focused on growth, not just gameplay. Whether you’re starting out or pushing for the next level, this is where real training happens.

No Ice? No Excuses.

SGT Hockey Fixes Columbus Shortage

SGT Hockey gives players a consistent, high-quality place to train on synthetic ice using their regular ice hockey skates. No need to fight for rink time. Our veteran-owned facility is focused on development, not just open skate.

What Players Need To Know

Frequently Asked Questions

What are your operating hours?2026-01-08T18:56:27+00:00

We are open on Monday to Friday at 3:00pm-9:00pm and Saturday at 11:00am-9:00pm.

Is synthetic ice realistic?2026-01-08T18:56:47+00:00

Yes. Synthetic ice is designed to closely simulate real on-ice movement. While it feels slightly different than traditional ice, it allows players to train skating mechanics, shooting, passing, and stickhandling with high repetition—making it an effective tool for skill development.

What types of training sessions do you offer?2026-01-08T18:59:15+00:00

SGT Hockey offers:

  • Shooting Lane Sessions
  • Skills Training

  • Film Viewing

All sessions focus on developing shooting, passing, skating, and stickhandling.

How do I book a session?2026-01-08T19:01:57+00:00

Sessions can be booked directly through our booking site. You can also fill out our contact form or call us at (380) 998-1741.

Do I need to sign a waiver before training?2026-01-08T19:03:03+00:00

Yes. Each player must have an individual waiver signed and on file before participating in any training session. Parents or legal guardians must complete waivers for minors.

What should players bring to training?2026-01-08T19:04:29+00:00

Players should bring:

  • Hockey stick (with white tape)
  • Gloves
  • Athletic clothing
  • Athletic shoes
  • Water bottle

Any additional requirements will be listed when booking specific sessions. Please contact us or call us at (380) 998-1741 if you have questions or clarifications.

Why do we need white tape on our sticks?2026-01-08T19:04:46+00:00

White tape is required because it leaves less residue on the synthetic ice surface. This helps keep the training area clean and ensures consistent puck movement for all players.

Why do I have to take my shoes off?2026-01-08T19:05:36+00:00

Shoes are removed to help keep the synthetic ice surface clean and in good condition. Dirt and debris can affect performance and safety on the training surface.

Are parents allowed to watch?2026-01-08T19:05:54+00:00

Yes. Parents are welcome to watch training sessions, especially for younger players. We ask that spectators remain in designated areas so athletes can train safely and without distraction.

Can we bring food or drinks with team bookings?2026-01-08T19:06:19+00:00

Water is always encouraged. Food and other drinks may be permitted for team or private bookings with prior approval. Please contact us ahead of time to confirm guidelines.

Can more than one person train on a shooting lane?2026-01-08T19:06:31+00:00

Yes, depending on the session type and supervision. Multiple players may share a lane during group or team sessions to allow for efficient rotations and repetitions.

What safety measures are in place at SGT Hockey?2026-01-08T19:22:41+00:00

Safety is a top priority. All sessions are structured and supervised, waivers are required, and training areas are designed to promote controlled movement and focused repetitions. Players are expected to follow facility guidelines at all times.
